Title

Consider and take action on an ordinance to amend Chapter 102 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of League City entitled “Subdivisions” by adding provisions for utility installations and to incorporate conformity with the Trails Master Plan (Director of Planning and Development)

Background:

If approved, the proposed ordinance would amend the City’s subdivision ordinance as follows:

1.                     Utility Installations

                     Would provide for the installation of overhead 3-phase power along the perimeter of new development, subject to:

i.  Perimeter 3-phase along roadways classified as arterials and above shall be on concrete poles; and

ii.  Wood poles allowed elsewhere along perimeter;

                     Overhead 3-phase prohibited interior to development except:

i.  Along roadways classified as arterials and above which shall be placed on concrete poles;

ii.  Major utility corridors generally 50-feet or more in width.

                     Discourage to the maximum extent practical overhead installations in the flood plain.

                     All other utility extensions/service as part of new subdivision development would continue to be placed underground in accordance with current ordinance.

2.                     New subdivisions would be required to accommodate the extension of trails as described in the City’s adopted Trails Master Plan.

Staff recommends approval.
