Background:
Approval of this item will authorize the Mayor to execute and the City Secretary to attest a second addendum to the Interlocal Agreement with Galveston County to partially fund improvements to the City of League City streets known as Calder Road, Louisiana Avenue, and Caroline Street within the City limits of League City.

On August 4, 2009, Galveston County and the City of League City entered into an agreement whereby the County would partially fund improvements to Calder Road, Louisiana Avenue, and Caroline Street, with $3,038,000 in County road funds being allocated towards the Calder Road project. On April 28, 2015, Council approved the first addendum to the agreement whereby the County will contribute an additional $1,000,000 towards the Calder Road project, increasing its funding to $4,038,000.

The current agreement calls for the County to handle the bidding and construction phase for Calder Road. Construction of the Calder Road project, which is located entirely within League City, will involve such local issues as traffic interruption and re-routing, temporary utility interruptions, and utility relocations. Since Calder is a City road, staff will be on hand daily to monitor and inspect the project. City staff prefers that the City’s own contract documents and specifications be used so that the City staff may deal directly with the contractor, and that project warranties are issued directly to the City upon completion of construction.
