Background:
This is the first of two required public hearings regarding the proposed City-initiated annexation of approximately 95.63 acres of land, located west of State Highway 3, between Tangarine (18th Street) and 20th Street running west a distance of approximately 1.05 miles to the current city limits of League City. A map of the proposed area to be annexed is attached.
Project Timeline:
August 25, 2015 - City Council directs staff to initiate annexation proceedings.
September 13, 2015 - Staff provides written notice to owners, public/private entities of intent to annex and forthcoming public hearings.
September 27, 2015 - Notice of first City Council public hearing published.
October 9, 2015 - Notice of second City Council public hearing published.
October 13, 2015 - City Council conducts first public hearing.
October 19, 2015 - Planning and Zoning Commission to recommend zoning of tract(s) upon annexation.
October 27, 2015 - City Council conducts second public hearing.
November 24, 2015 - City Council to consider ordinance on first reading annexing tract(s) into the City limits of League City.
December 22, 2015 - Subject to approval on first reading, City Council to consider ordinance on second (final) reading. If ordinance is adopted on second reading, subject tract(s) would officially reside within League City.
Staff Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the City Council hold the public hearing and receive any written and oral comments.
