Background:
Approval of this item will order a General Election for the City of League City on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, to elect Council Members to Positions 3, 4 and 5; ordering a Runoff Election on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, if necessary.
According to Section 3.005 of the Texas Election Code, an election ordered by an authority of a political subdivision shall be ordered not later than the 78th day before the election. In 2016 the 78th day before the election is Monday, August 22, 2016.
