Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize a three-year Interlocal Agreement between the City of League City and the Gulf Coast Center for transportation services for seniors and individuals with disabilities in an amount not to exceed $6,000.
The Gulf Coast Center ("Center") was established pursuant to Chapter 534 of the Texas Health and Safety Code and it is the designated transit provider for Brazoria and Galveston counties. The Center has been awarded federal Section 5310 (Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities) funding to support continuing transit access to jobs, medical and other venues for citizens who live within Galveston County and the Houston urbanized area.
The Center's federal funding approved for the Section 5310 program totals $205,945 for FY2016 through FY2018. The Center requires participating municipalities to provide their fair share of costs associated with support of the Section 5310 funded services. The City's three-year local share contribution to support the Section 5310 program is $6,000, which equals an annual contribution of $2,000.
