Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a professional services agreement with Binkley & Barfield, Inc. for the Dickinson Avenue Reconstruction Project (RE1702C) in an amount not to exceed $923,864 (Deputy City Manager)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize a professional services agreement with Binkley & Barfield to perform the engineering design and construction phase services related to the Dickinson Avenue Reconstruction Project (RE1702C) in an amount not to exceed $923,864.
The scope of this project includes approximately 2.15 miles of pavement reconstruction, water and sanitary sewer line replacement within the right-of-way (ROW) and drainage improvements. The typical cross section for the proposed improvements will be 2 to 12 feet travel lanes with a 10 foot multi-use trail. If possible, the drainage ditch and utility improvements will be designed within the existing ROW. Existing pavement under S.H. 96 will be examined to determine if replacement is needed and left turn lanes will be added at the intersections of East Walker and F.M. 646. Binkley & Barfield will investigate an additional left turn lane at the entrance to Hometown Heroes Park. It is assumed, that stormwater detention will be designed for the tract located to the northeast of S.H. 96 and Dickinson Avenue. An allowance for a stormwater pumping station for the proposed detention pond is included in this proposal, if needed.
Two (2) design packages may be produced depending on the overall cost and land acquisition requirements. One (1) design package would extend from East Walker to S.H. 96 and the other would be from S.H. 96 to F.M. 646.
Binkley & Barfield’s proposal to perform the preliminary engineering, engineering design, and construction phase services not to exceed $923,864, which includes the following:
