Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the sale of approximately 0.019 acre City-owned surplus property contiguous with 3015 Shady Lane (HCAD 0953250000071) to Eric Land for a total amount of $4,400 (Deputy City Manager)
Background:
Approval of this item will authorize the conveyance of the City-owned 0.019 acre tract of land (HCAD Account No. 0953250000071) located contiguous with 3015 Shady Lane to Eric Land. Eric Land is the owner of 3015 Shady Lane and was the highest (and only) bidder in the amount of $4,400.
The 0.019 acre (847 square feet) tract was formerly an old water well site that was capped and abandoned by the City circa 2003-04 following the extension of a City 8-inch water line to serve residences along Shady Lane. The property was designated by Council as surplus property by Resolution 2016-33. Using the recently updated Harris County Appraisal District appraisals of the surrounding properties, a reserve price was established at $4,345. The sale was advertised and publicly opened on November 15, with Mr. Land’s bid of $4,400 being the highest (and only) bid received (see attached bid tabulation).
Staff recommends Council’s acceptance of Mr. Land’s $4,400 bid, authorization for the City Manager or his designee to execute such documents as are necessary to complete the sale and conveyance, and place the proceeds into the CIP for future land acquisition.
