Consider and take action on a resolution approving the purchase of one pickup truck for Line Repair through BuyBoard in an amount not to exceed $26,083 (Assistant City Manager)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the purchase of one Ford F-150 extended cab pickup truck for the early replacement of unit 600 due to an oil cooler failure.
Line Repair brought in unit 600, a 2008 Ford F250 extended cab diesel pickup truck with 110,283 miles on November 14 with an oil leak. After diagnosis, the unit needs replacement of the oil cooler, cab bushings, belt and tensioners and the motor resealed for an amount of $5,233.35. Due to the age and high mileage on this unit, as well as the high cost of the repair, staff recommends the early replacement of this vehicle rather than making the repairs.
The total cost for this vehicle will be approximately $26,083. The vehicle will be purchased from Silsbee Ford, Inc. utilizing BuyBoard pricing. As the city currently has an open purchase order with Silsbee Ford for the FY2017 replacement vehicles approved by council on October 25, a change order can be done resulting in a $400 savings on the BuyBoard Administration fee. Funding is available for purchase from the Capital Replacement Fund.
