Consider and take action on appointment of a member to the League City Volunteer Fire Department Pension Board (Mayor Hallisey and Mayor Pro Tem Kinsey)
Background:
League City firefighters are participating members of a State pension system enabled by Government Code Chapter 865. All contributions to the firefighter pension fund come from the City of League City in annual payments relative to the number of members in good standing.
Government Code Chapter 865, Section 865.012 states, “A local board is composed of: (1) one trustee selected by a governing body of the political subdivision of which a participating department is a part;”. This position is currently vacant and needs to be filled for the board to function optimally.
