Consider and take action on a request by the St. Mary Catholic School for a variance to the Code of Ordinances of the City of League City, Chapter 74, Article I, Section 74-1, and entitled “Hours for use of city parks and boat ramps” for use of Hometown Heroes Park on April 22, 2017 - April 23, 2017 (Director of Parks and Cultural Services)
Background:
Approval of this item will allow the St. Mary’s Catholic School in League City, TX to use Hometown Heroes Park gymnasiums to host the annual school Gala Fundraiser and Silent Auction. The event is designed to raise funds for new school equipment, technology upgrades and basic operating expenses. St. Mary’s Catholic School is a designated 501(c)(3) organization which qualifies them for waiver of fees. The event is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. on April 22, 2017 and end at 1 a.m. on April 23, 2017.
As the event will last until 1 a.m., a variance is required for the 10:30 p.m. closing time as set forth by City Ordinance No. 90-09, Section 74-1. Approximately 300 people are expected to attend. Set-up and clean-up will be the responsibility of St. Mary’s Catholic School.
Past history reveals that staff experienced no problems during the course of this event.
