Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a professional services agreement with Clark Condon Associates, Inc. for the Claremont Connector Hike and Bike Trail Project (PK1703) in an amount of $115,000 (Public Works Director)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize a professional services agreement with Clark Condon Associates, Inc. to perform, or have sub-consultants perform, professional services associated with the Claremont Connector Hike and Bike Trail Project (PK1703) in an amount of $115,000. These fees include survey, design, reimbursable and construction phase services.

This concrete trail would comprise an approximate total of 1.5 miles in length, and 8-feet in width. This project is to be funded with Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) 4B funds and funding for this trail has been approved by the 4B Industrial Development Corporation as a part of the 5-Year Plan, and has also been approved by City Council as part of the FY 17 CIP. The approved budget for the project including design and construction is $671,500.

The Claremont Connector Trail is a project that was brought to the Parks Department from individuals from three (3) subdivisions on the West side of League City: Claremont, Cedar Landing, and Clear Creek Meadows. The group wanted to connect all three neighborhoods to existing trail system better linking the neighborhoods to each other, parks and schools and providing an alternate route to Creekside Intermediate and Clear Springs High School that is not along FM 518. Currently, kids from these subdivisions are forced to walk and bike along FM 518 in order to get to school each day.

As part of the project development process the Claremont Connector Trail will require approval from CenterPoint Energy, Texas-New Mexico Power, Villages of Oak Creek Colony, Claremont Park Homeowners, and also Clear Creek Meadows.
