Consider and take action on a resolution approving the purchase of one police patrol vehicle with related equipment and one truck for utility billing through various state contract vendors for an amount not to exceed $80,467 (Director of Public Works)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the purchase of one Ford Interceptor Explorer and related equipment to replace patrol vehicle Unit 142 (2010 Dodge Charger) and one Ford F150 short bed truck to replace Unit 660 (2015 Ford F150 short bed truck).
Unit 142 was involved in an accident on November 28, 2016. After a full inspection by the City’s insurance carrier, TML, this vehicle was deemed a total loss and payment was disbursed to the City in an amount of $9,375.
The cost for this new unit including the $400 BuyBoard contract fee, will be $57,401; less the $9,375 insurance reimbursement for a total net cost of $48,026. Pricing includes base vehicle, graphics, and police specific equipment that cannot be moved from the Charger. The vehicle will be purchased from Caldwell County Ford and equipped from Cap Fleet Upfitters utilizing BuyBoard pricing.
Unit 660 was involved in an accident on February 9, 2017 with significant enough damage to deem the vehicle a total loss. After a full inspection by the City’s insurance carrier, TML, this vehicle was deemed a total loss and payment was disbursed to the City in an amount of $20,539.
The cost for this replacement unit will be $23,066 for a new 2016 Ford F150 short bed.
Funding is available for these purchases from the Capital Replacement Fund.
