Presentation of awards to student participants for the 2017 National Drinking Water Week poster contest and essay contest (Director of Public Works)
Background:
The City of League City set goals for reducing water consumption and began a new program in 2011 to promote water conservation awareness throughout the community. One of several public outreach events is the annual Drinking Water Week poster and essay contest in CCISD and DISD schools serving League City residents. Utilities Division Staff will judge the entries received from throughout the school districts. This year’s theme is “Your Water, to know it is to love it”. Prizes are awarded in each grade category (grades K-2, 3 - 5, 6 - 8) to first, second and third place winners. Awards are presented to the winning students in Council Chambers during a regular Council Meeting. Public Outreach activities and awards are funded through the City’s participation in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (“ERCOT”) Demand Response Program.
Poster Contest:
Prizes are as follows: First Place $75 gift certificate to Wal-Mart and a Class Pizza Party
Second Place $50 gift certificate to Wal-Mart
Third Place $25 gift certificate to Wal-Mart
Essay Contest:
Prizes are as follows: First Place $200 Best Buy gift card
Second Place $150 Best Buy gift card
Third Place $100 Best Buy gift card
