Background:

Approval of this resolution will authorize the award of a construction contract to Main Lane Industries, Ltd. for construction of package 2 of the 2017 Asphalt Streets Rehabilitation Project (RE1704A), authorize funds for a construction work change directive budget, and authorize funds for a construction material testing services budget.

The purpose of this project is to perform road base repairs and asphalt resurfacing as part of an annual infrastructure reinvestment program.  Package 2 consists of the following streets west of railroad, east of Highway 3, and north of Main Street: Crystal, Velvet, Byron Avenue, Edgewood, Marshall Avenue, Oaklawn, Coryell, Avondale, 2nd Street, 3rd Street, 4th Street, and Plymouth.  Package 2 also consists of the following streets within the Shellside Subdivision: Oregon Avenue, Florida, Mulberry, Ohio Avenue, Pear, and Strawberry (from Oklahoma Avenue to dead end).  The approximate length of mill and overlay operations is 13,856 linear feet.

Sealed bids for the project were received May 23, 2017 (Bid No. 17-034).  Main Lane Industries, Ltd. submitted the lowest bid in the amount of $1,010,000.  Attached is the City’s engineering consultant’s recommendation of award, along with the bid tabulation.
