Title
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the purchase of one Ford F350 with a service body truck for the fleet department and one Ford F150 super cab truck for the water department from Silsbee Ford through a cooperative purchasing agreement with TxSmartBuy in an amount not to exceed $60,861.65 (Director of Public Works)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the purchase of one Ford F350 with a service body to replace Unit 917 (a 2007 Ford F350) and one Ford F150 super cab to replace Unit 691 (a 2010 Ford F150 super cab truck). Unit 917 was involved in an accident on June 12, 2017. After a full inspection by the City’s insurance carrier, TML, this vehicle was deemed a total loss and payment was disbursed to the City in an amount of $8,644.75. The cost for this new unit will be $37,224; less the $8,644.75 insurance reimbursement for a total net cost of $28,579.25. Unit 691 was involved in an accident on June 14, 2017. After a full inspection by the City’s insurance carrier, TML, this vehicle was deemed a total loss and payment was disbursed to the City in an amount of $10,523. The cost for this new unit will be $23,637.65; less the $10,523 insurance reimbursement for a total net cost of $13,114.65. Both vehicles will be purchased through Silsbee Ford for a total cost of $60,861.65.

The City is not bidding these purchases because the vehicles and equipment are being purchased through a cooperative purchasing agreement. The cooperative (TxSmartBuy) has already provided for competitive bidding with its vendors in compliance with state procurement laws. Funding is available for these purchases from the Capital Replacement Fund.
