Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an agreement with Cotton Culinary, Inc. of Katy, Texas to provide emergency food services to City employees in the event of an emergency or disaster (Fire Chief)
Background:
Approval of this proposed resolution will authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Cotton Culinary to provide emergency food services in the event of an emergency or disaster.
During a large regional disaster, such as a hurricane, access to food becomes increasingly difficult. Local grocery stores and restaurants will close and stored food will often spoil due to widespread power outages. During such an incident, key staff will be required to remain in city facilities to respond and begin recovery operations. This prepositioned disaster contract will allow the City to provide food service to those employees engaged in the response to, and recovery from, a large disaster until a time that grocery stores and restaurants are able to reopen.
The Purchasing Department issued Request for Proposal 17-023 for this service on May 1, 2017. One (1) response was received on May 30, 2017. The evaluation team evaluated Cotton Culinary based on the stated criteria in the RFP. Criteria included: qualifications and experience, project methodology, pricing, and references. After evaluation, Cotton Culinary was determined to be qualified and able to provide emergency catering services. The initial term of the proposed contract is from August 23, 2017 through August 22, 2022.
CONTRACT ORIGINATION: Agreement provided by Cotton Culinary, approved by the City Attorney.
