Title

Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a professional services agreement with Natex Corporation Architects for the engineering and design of the new Fire Station #6 construction in an amount not to exceed $305,000 (Fire Chief)

Background:

Approval of this resolution will authorize a professional services agreement with Natex Corporation Architects for engineering and design of the new Fire Station #6 construction in an amount not to exceed $305,000.

On July 11, 2017 (Item 10F), City Council approved a shortlist of consultants to provide professional services to the City of League City.  The Fire Station #6 working committee reviewed the qualifications of firms listed in Discipline L: Building Architectural Design, and is recommending Natex Corporation Architects based on past projects, proximity to League City, and references from past clients.  Fire Station #6 will be constructed on a portion of the 1.68 acres site on South Shore Boulevard adjacent to the new Eastside Water Tower.

In this project, Natex Corporation Architects will be responsible for programming, scope to budget, schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding and negotiation, as well as construction administration for the project.  The new facility will support 24-hour operations and include living quarters for six personnel (four firefighters and two paramedics/EMTs), three bays, and a pumper.

Design for this project is funded in the FY2017 Capital Budget.  Construction is part of the FY2018-2022 Capital Improvement Plan.

CONTRACT ORIGINATION:  This agreement was reviewed and approved by the City Attorney.
