Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the submission of an application to the Office of the Governor - Criminal Justice Department for the Rifle Resistant Body Armor Grant Program (Chief of Police)
Background:
If approved, the resolution would meet the eligibility requirements of the grant and allow the City to move forward in the approval process.
The Office of the Governor (Criminal Justice Division) has made $25 million dollars available to Texas law enforcement agencies for the purchase of rifle resistant body armor. If the City is approved for the requested amount of the grant, the City would receive $158,760.00 to outfit each officer of the police department with rifle resistant body armor. This grant does not require any matching funds from the City. Once approved, this resolution can be uploaded to the eGrants Texas site and will meet the listed requirement to maintain eligibility for this funding source.
