Title
Consider and take action on a resolution adopting the League City, Texas - Parks, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan, 2017 (Director of Parks & Cultural Services)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will adopt the League City, Texas - Parks, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan, 2017.

In 2013, the City approved a Comprehensive Plan designed to guide the management of future growth and change. The Parks, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan seeks to provide a guide for the City to manage the provision of parkland, open space, and trails in the most effective way in terms of planning, acquisition, and development as recommended in the Comprehensive Plan. In addition, having a current Parks Master Plan puts the City in a position to compete for Texas Parks & Wildlife grants.

This Master Plan updated and combined the Parks and Open Space Master Plan from 2005 and the Trails Master Plan from 2010. The consultant firm of Clark Condon Associates presented the Plan at a City Council Meeting on October 10, 2017. The Parks Board unanimously approved the Parks, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan on October 5, 2017. The Plan was also presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission on October 2, 2017, and in a City Council work session on October 10, 2017.

Two (2) public engagement meetings were held to get input from the public on May 11, 2016 (Creekside Intermediate) and May 18, 2016 (Clear Creek Intermediate).

A copy of the Parks, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan has been included in Dropbox for Council to view, and a link has been included on the City website for the public to view. Also, a hard copy of the plan is available at the Library and the Council Workroom at City Hall.
