Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the purchase of twenty-three (23) replacement vehicles and related equipment through various vendors and state contracts for an amount not to exceed $794,366.84 (Director of Public Works)

Council postponed 6-1-0 with 1 absent on November 14, 2017.

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the purchase of twenty-three (23) replacement vehicles and related equipment to meet the City’s current and future growth and operations demand.

The approved FY2018 budget includes funding in the amount of $777,000 to replace twenty-three (23) replacement vehicles and related equipment from the Capital Replacement Fund for a total cost of $794,366.84. The overage of $17,366.84 will be funded from the $200,000 budgeted for non-scheduled vehicle replacement.

The total cost for the replacement of existing vehicles and public safety radios total $650,366.83, plus a $300 GoodBuy Purchasing Fee. The ambulance remount in the amount of $143,100.00 plus the HGAC Purchasing fee of $600 will be purchased from Knapp Chevrolet and equipped from Frazer, LTD utilizing H-GAC pricing. All vehicles will be purchased from Silsbee Ford, and equipped from Lone Star Products & Equipment LLC for the Public Safety Vehicles, utilizing Good Buy pricing. Radios for public safety equipment will be purchased from Motorola Radio utilizing the H-GAC contract. Total funding for the replacement vehicles and related equipment is $794,366.84.

Two (2) trucks (Unit 756 and Unit 801) will be used as a loaner truck when a Department has a vehicle in the shop for an extended period of time.
