Consider and take action on a resolution ratifying an agreement with the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force (OCDETF) sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for the purpose of fighting illegal drug trafficking trade and to provide up to $3,000 of reimbursement to the City of League City for police officer overtime pay (Chief of Police)

 

Background:

The Drug Enforcement Agency Task Force is a Federal Office comprised of Special Agents from DEA, county agencies throughout the area, and officers from other local municipalities. Their role is to investigate narcotic crimes involving the smuggling, sale, and use of illegal narcotics in the Harris/Galveston area. This is a Federal initiative that funds overtime for local officers assigned to the Task Force. The supported initiative is the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF). The initiative will reimburse the City of League City up to $3,000 in overtime pay.  Additionally, the Task Force will be available to assist League City police officers assigned to the Task Force with any needs during their local investigations.

 

This Agreement was executed on November 16, 2017 in order to allow certain League City police officers to proceed with activities related to the Task Force.
