Title

Consider and take action on a resolution updating the Recreation Department Fee Schedule and updating the Recreation Department Facility Policy and Guidelines (Director of Parks & Cultural Services)

Background:

Approval of this item will set new fees and update existing fees for recreational programs and rental of parks and facilities, as well as the updating of the facility policy and guidelines.

The current fee structure for recreation programs and rental fees was last approved in October 2016 to address the addition of new programs and changes to existing program fees. The Recreation Department reviews all programs on an annual basis to make recommendations to Council should any changes be needed. This item proposes that Council ratify current fees and approve new fees for new programs in the Recreation Department for the FY2018 Fiscal Year.

The current facility and park usage policy for parks was last approved by Council in 2015. This item proposes that Council approve minor changes to the policy, which will provide better service to our customers. The changes include authorizing the City Manager to approve a variance or exception to the fee waiver policy, the addition of a clause regarding state of Texas gambling laws, and an update to the advance booking schedule.

The revenue projections are in line with the FY2018 budget. Revenue collected from Hometown Heroes Park programs and rental fees will be rolled back into the 4B Sales Tax Fund, as outlined in the 4B five-year financing schedule approved by the 4B Board and Council
