Consider and take action to approve a request, by the League City Lions Club to grant a variance to Chapter 42, Article II of the Code of Ordinances of the City of League City entitled "Noise" for extending end time and to waive City permit fees for the “64th Annual League City Music Fest and BBQ Cook Off” to be held May 4 and 5, 2018 (Chief of Police)
Background:
Approval of this item will allow the League City Lions Club to extend beyond normal sound permit end times and waive fees associated with the permits. The Code of Ordinances of the City of League City, Section 42-38, states that the permit is valid for one 14-hour period between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. The same section also requires payment of a $25 fee for the administrative costs of issuing each permit.
The application was received by the League City Police Department requesting sound permits for the purpose of conducting an event entitled “64th Annual League City Music Fest and BBQ Cook Off”. This event will take place at Walter Hall Park on May 4 and 5, 2018. This event is estimated to draw approximately 25,000 attendees throughout the two day festival. The applicant has made a request to waive the cost of the sound permits for May 4 and 5, 2018. Total cost to the City is $50 for the two sound permits. The applicant has also made a request for a variance to extend the end time to allow the entertainers to play music until 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 and on Sunday May 6, 2018.
