Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an interlocal agreement with Harris County for participation in the Regional Watershed Protection Education Program in an amount not to exceed $24,085.32 (Director of Engineering)
Background:
Approval of this item will authorize an interlocal agreement that will allow the Harris County Public Infrastructure Department to administer and implement a Regional Watershed Protection Education Program.
This is a yearly agreement that is being renewed. As part of the City’s MS4 program, we are required to implement a public education and outreach program on storm water impacts. Other cities in Harris County and the County are required to provide this program as well. A group of cities, League City included, partner with Harris County to provide a regional educational and outreach program. The program provides information on the impact to water quality of our local watersheds regarding, but not limited to, dissemination of information regarding (a) prevention of litter, (b) proper management of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers, (c) public reporting of illicit discharges, (d) proper management of used oil and household hazardous wastes, and (e) proper construction methods.
This City’s pro rata share of expenses for the County to administer this educational and outreach program is $24,085.32.
