Title

Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the submission of an application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the FM 270 Boat Ramp Renovation Project (Director of Parks and Cultural Services)

Background:

Approval of this resolution would meet the requirements of the Grant Application Pre-Approval Process (GAP-AP) and allow city staff to proceed with the grant application process.

TPWD allows for matching grants for Boating Access of up to $500,000 per sponsor.   If approved for the grant, the City will receive funds for the FM 270 Boat Ramp Renovation Project as explained in the attached documents.  Total cost of the project is estimated at $821,667.  There is potential grant funding through the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department in the amount of $500,000 for construction.  A Boating Ramp Renovation Grant would provide construction funding of 75% from the State of Texas, and the remaining 25% would come from Park Dedication Fees.  The construction estimate is $666,667, for a grant match of $500,000 (75%), and a COLC match from Park Dedication Fees of $166,167 (25%).

Council approved a preliminary design contract for the FM270 Boat Ramp Renovation Project (PK1804) with Burditt Consultants, LLC on May 8, 2018 Item 9E in the amount of $62,000.  Final design is estimated at $93,000 for total design cost of $155,000.  The design amount is not being considered as match.  Construction is estimated at $666,667 and design cost is estimated at $155,000 for a total project cost estimated of $821,667.

Project Budget/Funding:

$500,000 from TPWD Grant

$259,667 from COLC funds (Park Dedication Fees) to be appropriated for FY19
