Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the annual purchase of Water Meters from Aqua Metrics utilizing the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) Cooperative Purchasing Program for an amount not to exceed $279,886 (Director of Finance)
Background:
Approval of this item will authorize the annual purchase of water meters for installation of new accounts and replacements for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. Meter purchase and installation is an ongoing function as new home and business construction continues throughout League City. Staff recommends the purchase of meters that are compatible with the City’s Sensus metering software.
This product matches our existing brand of equipment for compatibility, and Aqua Metrics is the only available supplier for this specific product. All purchases with Aqua Metrics go through the HGAC program and comply with the State bidding requirements.
Each standard residential meter installation includes one MXU 520M single port smart point (antenna), $120 each and one ¾-inch SL iPerl Meter, $118.56; a total cost of product installation of $238.56 which is 2.8% higher than the FY 2018 cost of $232.00. We purchase approximately 1,000 meters for new home construction each year.
