Consider and take action on an ordinance approving the League City 2018 Master Water Plan and 2018 Master Wastewater Plan as an element of the Comprehensive Plan of the City of League City (Director of Engineering)
Staff recommends approval on first and final reading.
Background:
Approval of this ordinance will approve the League City 2018 Master Water Plan and the 2018 Master Wastewater Plan.
The League City Master Water Plan and Master Wastewater Plan was developed to provide a thorough evaluation of the City’s current water and wastewater infrastructure and future water and wastewater infrastructure needs. A City-wide water and wastewater model was developed as part of the Master Plans. The needs were evaluated on an existing level and a projected level based on the City’s growth rate as noted in the approved Land Use Assumptions Plan. Infrastructure needs were developed and prioritized based on this analysis.
The League City 2018 Master Water Plan and the 2018 Master Wastewater Plan will replace the current versions which were approved by Council in 2014 and 2011 respectively.
Approval of the League City 2018 Master Water Plan and the 2018 Master Wastewater Plan are needed for the City to move forward with the up-date of the existing Water and Wastewater Capital Recovery Fees. Approval of this item ties to Critical Success Factor #1: Develop and Maintain our Infrastructure, specifically Initiative #1: Secure Water supply for Buildout and Implement Water Master Plan, Item A: Adopt Water and Wastewater Master Plan.
