Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing staff to reject all received bids for RFP 19-FireMar-004 Arson Command Trailer and authorizing the Purchasing Department to advertise and proceed with a new bidding process (Fire Chief)
Background:
Approval of this item will reject all bids and allow staff to proceed with a new bidding process for the arson command trailer. On October 24, 2018, the Fire Marshal’s Office received a grant for $79,281.13 from the FY 2018 State Homeland Security Program Grant through the Office of the Governor and on February 27, 2018 City Council approved the acceptance of the grant with Resolution #2018-26.
On November 26, 2018, the city received two bids that did not qualify. After a thorough review by the bid selection committee, the first bid was determined to be unacceptable due to the proposed bid pricing. The second bid did not meet the specification set forth in the RFP.
Due to the timeline requirements set by the grant provider, it is important that we reopen the bids for this project in a timely manner or forfeit the grant. The construction of the trailer and all corresponding records must be completed by August 31, 2019.
