Title
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a two-year agreement with Southwest Signal Supply, Inc. for traffic control and related device maintenance in an amount not to exceed $160,000 in FY2019 - FY2021 (Director of Public Works)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize an award for control and related device maintenance services providing on-call and emergency maintenance of traffic signals, school zone flashers, and various other signalized traffic control equipment to Southwest Signal Supply, Inc. for a period of two (2) years, from March 4, 2019 to March 3, 2021 with the option to renew for two (2) additional one-year periods. The City has budgeted and expects to expend approximately $80,000 for this agreement, annually.

The contract will support the Traffic & Transportation Department to ensure all signalized traffic control and street lighting equipment continues operating at peak performance. Work to include repairs, troubleshooting, and modifications of various types of traffic equipment maintained by the City of League City which also includes after-hours and emergency calls for service.

On November 26, 2018 League City released Invitation to Bid (ITB) No. 19-Traffic-009 for traffic control and related device maintenance. One sealed bid was received from Southwest Signal Supply, Inc., publicly opened and read on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. The quantities used in the bid form are just an estimate used to approximate the total work required. The work will be paid based on specific work orders and the unit prices for completion of work. The work will be developed throughout the year(s) based on needs.

The City staff confirms that prices are within typical range for this type of work. Bid details are available in Exhibit A. The City’s recommendation is to award the contract to Southwest Signal Supply, Inc. for traffic control and related device maintenance.
