Title
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a second amendment to the professional services agreement with Huitt-Zollars Inc for the Downtown Redevelopment Project (ED1503) to add related services to re-design the drainage facilities along Coryell Street in an amount not to exceed $62,960.00 (Director of Budget & Project Management)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the City Manager to amend Huitt-Zollars Inc. agreement to include the revised design for the drainage facilities along Coryell Street, in an amount not to exceed $62,960.00.

On May 11, 2016, Council approved a professional services agreement with Huitt-Zollars Inc for planning and design pertaining to Downtown Redevelopment Project in the amount of $895,400. On September 26, 2017, Council approved $97,130 additional supplemental services based on Union Pacific Railroad’s denial of a pedestrian crossing and input from public meetings. The current contract totals $992,530.

This amendment will re-design the drainage improvements associated with Park Ave and League Park. Staff is presenting the revised design option as it will not require the use of an inverted drainage syphon which presents maintenance challenges and will also eliminate the need to purchase additional easements from the property on Perkins. This alternative was made possible with the completion of the North Kansas Street reconstruction and drainage project that added capacity to the North Kansas system.

The project area is generally along Coryell Street between Railroad Avenue and Kansas Avenue. The scope of work includes preparation of design, preparation of construction documents, and construction phase services. The project will aide in the drainage of the Downtown Redevelopment area and divert flow through an enclosed storm sewer to Kansas Avenue.
