Presentation of the League City Fire Marshal’s Office Annual Racial Profiling Report for Calendar Year 2018 (Fire Chief)
Background:
The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), requires every law enforcement agency annually to file a Racial Profiling Report to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement if that agency makes any motor vehicles contacts. In previous years and prior to the Sandra Bland Act, the Fire Marshal’s Office was allowed to report under an “Exempted Status” to the law enforcement commission. However, due to the changes in the legislation and adopted laws, if any motor vehicle contacts are made a full report must be submitted to the TCOLE by March 1st of each year for the previous reporting year.
Only three motor vehicle contacts were made by the League City Fire Marshal’s Office for the 2018 calendar year. A complete analysis of the motor vehicle contacts was reviewed by the department supervisor to confirm the data collected and the compilation of the information was correct. The Fire Marshal’s Office has an adopted Racial Profiling policy, provided the required training, and implemented a complaint procedure, all which is required under the Code of Criminal Procedure, Title 1, Chapter 2, Article 2.131., and subsections thereafter.
