Title
Consider and take action on a resolution to ratify the purchase of 4 (four) 72” Z-turn mowers with League City Outdoor Power Equipment in an amount not to exceed $72,057.48 (Director of Parks & Cultural Services)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will ratify the purchase for 4 (four) 72” Z-turn mowers with League City Outdoor Power Equipment, in an amount not to exceed $72,057.48

On Thursday, February 28, 2019, staff discovered the break-in of the park maintenance shop at Lynn Gripon Park at Countryside, at 501 N. Bay Area Blvd. A police report was filed with case #19-1021. A claim was filed with TML for reimbursement.

Of the 6 (six) mowers at Countryside, 4 (four) 72” units were lost from the break-in, staff has 1 (one) 60” mower, and 1 (one) 72” unit is in the process of being replaced and should be arriving any day. Staff has secured 2 (two) smaller mowers, 1 (one) 60” and 1 (one) 52”, from a vendor on loan at no cost to the City. Loaners are not guaranteed for an extended length of time.

The 4 (four) mowers lost were primarily used for mowing at Countryside Park, Bark Park at Countryside, Rustic Oaks Park, Helen’s Garden, Heritage Park, Dr. Ned & Fay Dudney Nature Center, Big League Dream Skatepark, and hike & bike trails. The replacement of the mowers is anticipated to be a 3-week turnaround.

The mowing schedule is Monday through Thursday during the day when there is less activity at the parks. The proposed schedule with the existing mower and 2 (two) loaners is to maintain the weekly mowing cycle for only sections of highly used parks such as Lynn Gripon Park at Countryside, Bark Park at Countryside, Rustic Oaks Park, Helen’s Garden, and Heritage Park. The other sites listed above will shift to two-week cycles or longer until mowers are replaced. Delay of replacement mowers may cause visible lower level of service at sites during the current peak mowing season.

The purchase will go through the Sourcewell Co-op Purchasing Network contract ...
