Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an agreement with CDM7 LLC for the Burd House Exterior Renovation Project (PK1801B), in an amount not to exceed $124,000, and authorizing a construction work change directive budget in the amount of $5,400 (Director of Budget & Project Management)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the award of the construction contract to CDM7 LLC for the Burd House Exterior Renovation Project and authorize funds for a construction work change directive budget.
The exterior renovation project of Burd House addresses areas of siding, soffits, fascias, windows, and doors. Over the years, maintenance of this facility consisted of spot repairs and repainting. This project will consist of removal and proper disposal of lead-based paint materials in mandated fashion, replacing of rotten wood, re-glazing of window panes, repainting surfaces with a matching exterior grade paint.
The City received three (3) sealed bids for the project on February 12, 2019 (Bid No. 19-CIP-013). The City had advertised this project three previous times with first advertisement dates as; April 23, 2018, June 4, 2018, and July 9, 2018. CDM7 LLC submitted a bid that represents the best value for the City in the amount of $124,000 and for a construction time of 60 calendar days. Attached is the City's bid tabulation. The FY2018 construction budget for Burd House Exterior Renovation is $130,000.
Staff requests the approval of the award of the construction contract and authorization of funds, as follows:
1. Construction contract with CDM7 LLC in the amount of $124,000.
2. Construction work change directive budget in the amount of $5,400 that will allow staff to approve minor field changes to expedite decisions and avoid possible construction delays and/or damage claims by the contractor.
This project is anticipated to take 60 calendar days from the notice to proceed.
