Title

Presentation of a proclamation declaring May 5-11, 2019 as American Water Works Association (AWWA) “National Drinking Water Week” (Mayor Hallisey)

Background:

For more than 37 years, the American Water Works Association and its members have celebrated National Drinking Water Week - a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to join together in recognizing the vital role water plays in our daily lives.

Each year, the City of League City formally recognizes this week and coordinates water conservation and reuse public outreach events to coincide. This year, National Drinking Water Week is celebrated from May 5-11, 2019. This year’s theme is “Protect the Source.” Activities associated with Drinking Water Week include the annual poster contest, annual essay contest, toddler story time at the Helen Hall Library, rain barrel distribution, Captain H20/ Water Production Staff lunchtime visit to local city schools, and informational water conservation events at public venue locations in League City.
