Presentation of a proclamation declaring May 5-11, 2019 as Public Service Recognition Week (Mayor Hallisey)
Background:
Celebrated the first week of May since 1985, Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) is organized annually by the Public Employees Roundtable (PER) its member organizations, to honor the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees. Throughout the country, mayors, governors, agency leaders, communities and public service organizations participate in PSRW by issuing proclamations; hosting award ceremonies and special tribute events; and delivering messages about the value of public service.
This is League City’s second year to acknowledge and recognize our employees beginning with issuing a proclamation recognizing Public Service Recognition Week for the week of May 5-11, 2019.
Other activities planned for Public Service Recognition Week include three days whereby we will have a Thank You Breakfast served by our leaders for our employees, and other food-related celebration events. Departments will also have the option to participate in a poster competition on what it means to them to serve as a local government employee. Additionally, Human Resources will be re-training leaders and employees, and re-branding the online Give-A-Wow tool in the weeks prior to Public Service Recognition Week. The training will end with the debut of an online mailbox and method for citizens to submit recognition and thanks for any employee or department that might have provided exceptional service via our Give-A-Wow program.
