Presentation of honorary awards/plaques to student participants for the 2019 National Drinking Water Week poster contest and essay contest (Director of Public Works)

 

Background:

The City of League City set goals for reducing water consumption and began a new program in 2011 to promote water conservation awareness throughout the community. One of several public outreach events is the annual Drinking Water Week poster and essay contest in CCISD and DISD schools serving League City residents. Staff in the Utilities Division judged the entries received from throughout the school districts. This year’s theme is “Protect the Source”.

 

Honorary awards/plaques are awarded for the poster contest in each grade category (grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8) to first, second, and third place winners and grades 9-12 for the essay contest.  Honorary awards/plaques are presented to the winning students in Council Chambers during a regular Council Meeting. Public Outreach activities and awards are funded through the City’s participation in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (“ERCOT”) Demand Response Program.

FUNDING

{X} Funds in an estimated amount of $600 is anticipated as follows: Water Production Dept. - Enernoc Program Supplies Account #10207300-54100 for $225 and Office Supplies Account #10207300-51010 for $375.
