Consider and take action on a resolution ratifying the submission of application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency - FY 2019 Port Security Grant program for the purchase of a Fire/Rescue and All-Hazards Response Boat (Fire Chief)
Background:
The purpose of this grant would be for League City to have a fire/rescue boat with capacity to make water rescues and evacuations of multiple victims, serve as a stable base of operation for the dive rescue team operations, assist in providing a means to detect and limit contamination of waterways, fight any fires along the waterfront of Clear Lake and Clear Creek including structures, piers and boats, and provide mutual aid, as needed, for water emergencies in the region.
Approval of this item will allow the Fire Department to apply for funding to purchase a 26-30’ fire/rescue boat with port security features. The proposed funding for this project would be $436,790.00 in which 75% of this finding amount would be covered by the Port Security Grant. If the grant is awarded, The City of League City would be responsible for paying no more than $109,197.50 for the 25% city match which is required by this grant funding opportunity. The Fire Department would request a budget amendment to the current FY2020 budget for the funding for this project not to exceed $109,197.50.
