Summary:
In October 2019, the City will receive $387,552 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). By law, CDBG funds must only be spent on activities that benefit low and moderate income persons, address slum or blight, or meet a particular urgent community development need. Additionally, the funds have certain limitations such as a maximum of 15% to be spent on public services and a maximum of 20% to be spent on administration of the program. Infrastructure and public facility activities must occur in HUD-designated target areas.

For the funds to be received, the City is required to approve an Action Plan outlining how the money will be spent by the City. This year, two public service agencies applied for funding and all three were approved. Staff proposes the following with PY 2019 funding and the remaining funds from the prior year. No public comments have been received regarding the Annual Action Plan at this time.
