Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a final agreement with Fort Bend Services, Inc. for Polyacrylamide Cationic Emulsion Liquid Polymer at a unit price of $1.32 per pound for a total amount not to exceed $74,149.02 (Director of Public Works)

 

Background:

Approval of this resolution will authorize the City Manager to execute a final agreement with Fort Bend Services, Inc. for the purchase of Polyacrylamide Cationic Emulsion Liquid Polymer from August 28, 2019 to August 27, 2020 at a unit price of $1.32 per pound, in an amount not to exceed $74,149.02. This will be the final renewal option for the initial contract.

 

On August 22, 2017, City Council approved a one-year contract with Fort Bend Services, Inc. RFP# 17-038 for the period August 28, 2017 through August 27, 2018, with the option to renew for two (2) additional one-year periods  On August 14, 2018, City Council approved a one-year renewal with Fort Bend Services for the period August 28, 2018 through August 27, 2019, with the option to renew for one additional one-year period at a unit price of $1.32 per pound, for an amount not to exceed $74,149.02. Fort Bend Services, Inc. maintains a stellar service and product quality history.

 

This commodity is used for municipal wastewater sludge conditioning and mechanical dewatering at the City of League City’s wastewater treatment facilities; Dallas Salmon Wastewater Treatment Plant (DSWWTP) and Southwest Waste Water Reclamation Facility (SWWRF). It acts as a flocculent agent in the solids/water separation of digested sludge, significantly increasing the water removal efficiency, reducing the overall volume of sludge disposal, therefore reducing costs.
