Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a construction contract with D.L. Meacham for the Claremont Connector Hike and Bike Trail Project (PK1703), in an amount not to exceed $513,013.66, and authorizing a construction work change directive budget of an additional $51,301 for a total construction budget of $564,314.66 (Director of Budget & Project Management)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the award of the construction contract to D.L. Meacham for the Claremont Connector Hike and Bike Trail Project and authorize funds for a construction work change directive budget.
The Claremont Connector Trail is a project that was brought to the Parks Department from individuals from three (3) subdivisions on the West side of League City: Claremont, Cedar Landing, and Clear Creek Meadows. The group wanted to connect all three neighborhoods to the existing trail system better linking the neighborhoods to each other, parks and schools and providing an alternate route to Creekside Intermediate and Clear Springs High School that is not along FM518. Currently, kids from these subdivisions have to walk and bike along FM518 in order to get to school each day.
The City received seven (7) sealed bids for the project on July 23, 2019 (Bid No. 19-CIP-024). D.L. Meacham submitted the bid that represents the best value for the City in the amount of $513,013.66 and for a construction time of ninety (90) calendar days. Attached is the City's bid tabulation. The FY2019 construction budget for Claremont Connector Hike and Bike Trail Project is $578,500.
