Consider and take action on a resolution to approve the purchase of a Spartan ERV ladder truck with a 100-foot telescoping ladder and equipment as listed in the specifications through H-GAC from Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $1,469,809.00 (Fire Chief)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the purchase of a new quint ladder truck to help move the League City Fire Department closer to compliance with equipment standards, as published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The NFPA Standard 1901 states, “that any apparatus over 25 years old should be replaced.
Current Ladder 5, a 1994 Pierce Telesquirt, will have reached its 26rd year of service by the time it is put into service; making it a year older than the useful life standard.
This new ladder truck will be similar to the last ladder purchased in 2012 with added features including LED scene lights to provide enhanced vision, an enclosed ladder compartment and the latest features for firefighter safety inside the cab. This ladder truck price has $200,000 included within the total cost of the truck for all necessary loose equipment needed to make it fully functional.
City policy requires payment after the delivery of product or service. Staff is also requesting authority to prepay the chassis cost of $393,823 in order to receive a discount off the total price of $7,013. This ladder truck is anticipated to be complete within 1 year of the order date.
