Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an expenditure for a total amount not to exceed $205,661.48 for the emergency repair of South Shore Water Tower due to a water leak (Director of Public Works and Director of IT and Facilities)
Background:
On June 11, 2019, the lower level of the South Shore Water Tower flooded. As a result of the water leak, the elevator, several computer/network components and other interior surfaces were damaged by the water. Staff engaged Claremont Property Company to remediate the lower level at the direction of TML. Staff also received quotes from Presidio for replacement of the damaged network switch and quotes from Elevator Transportation Services, Inc. to repair the damaged elevator components. The City filed an insurance claim with TML and TML issued $205,661.48 for the damages.
Since the total expenditures for this repair project will exceed $50,000, staff is seeking ratification for the existing expenses and authorization for any remaining expenses.
