Consider and take action on a resolution amending Resolution No. 2019-148 for additional nominations for election to the Board of Directors of the Galveston Central Appraisal District for 2020-2021 (Mayor Hallisey)
Background:
City Council approved nomination of Donald Gartman at their September 10, 2019 meeting. The Mayor has requested the addition of Council Member Chad Tressler as a nominee to be voted on by GCAD taxing units.
As a taxing unit in the Galveston Central Appraisal District, the City is entitled to nominate up to five individuals for election to the appraisal district’s board of directors. Nominations must be made via written resolution that includes nominees’ names, and must be delivered to GCAD’s chief appraiser by October 15, 2019. Nominees will be placed on a ballot distributed to GCAD taxing units, who will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidates to serve two-year terms on the GCAD Board of Directors beginning January 1, 2020.
