Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a construction contract with Conrad Construction Co, LTD for the South Shore Blvd 84-inch storm pipe emergency repair (RE1803I), in the amount of $347,500, and authorizing an additional $35,000 for a Construction Work Change Directive budget and an additional $4,638 Construction Material Testing Services budget for a total construction budget of $387,138 (Director of Budget & Project Management)

 

 

 

Background:

Approval of this resolution will authorize funding with Conrad Construction Co, LTD for the emergency repair of an 84-inch corrugated storm sewer line that crosses underneath South Shore Boulevard at the intersection of FM518. This will involve the installation of approximately 100 linear feet of 7-foot x 6-foot Reinforced Concrete Box, roadway panel removal and reinstallation, sidewalk replacement and landscaping as required.

Due to the failure of the existing pipe, this has been identified as an emergency repair to prevent subsequent sudden failure of the roadway. Due to the nature of the emergency the procurement process of bidding was modified, and three quotes (in lieu of competitive bids) were received on October 1 with a recommendation from the Consultant provided, and attached, below.
