Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the award of the construction contract to Teamwork Construction Services for the construction of the SSH/SH96 RTL & SSH FS6 Median Cut Project (ST1912) and authorize funds for a construction work change directive budget.

This project will extend the right-hand turning lane northbound on South Shore Harbor Boulevard that turns to eastbound onto State Highway 96; as well as provide a median cut with a southbound left turn lane for entry/exit of fire trucks at Fire Station No. 6 on South Shore Boulevard.

The project also includes:

1. Installation of two (2) traffic warning signal lights, with power source, to alert oncoming traffic to stop so that fire trucks may enter/exit the fire station safely in emergency and non-emergency situations
2. Add an underground transformer on the west side of the median as a power source for the signal lights
3. Extending the right-hand turning lane northbound on SSH Blvd to eastbound on SH96
4. Add a control function inside Fire Station #6 that controls the signal lights

There are two (2) sealed bids for this project that were received on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 (Bid No. 19-CIP-041). Teamwork Construction Services submitted the lowest bid, based on the A+B bidding system, in the amount of $376,956.74 and for a construction time of 120 calendar days.
