Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing staff to reject all previous bids for ITB 20-Fire-001for the All Hazard Response Boat (Fire Chief)
Background:
Approval of this item will authorize staff to reject all bids for ITB 20-Fire-001.
On October 7, 2019, the City issued Invitation to Bid 20-Fire-001 (All Hazards Response Boat), which had a closing date of date of October 22, 2019. Only two bids were received.
Upon conducting a bid review process, it was determined that negotiations would need to occur with the vendors regarding product specifications. However, because the bid was issued as an Invitation to Bid (ITB) and not as a Request for Proposal (RFP), staff was not allowed to negotiate the terms of the bid submissions.
In order save time, staff immediately reissued the bid as a Request for Proposal. Staff is currently negotiating with the vendors and will bring that item at a subsequent City Council meeting
Under state law, staff needs Council authorization to formally reject all bids for ITB 20-Fire-001.
