Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a construction contract with Nash Construction for the Hometown Heroes Park Restrooms Project (PK1905), in an amount not to exceed $469,000, and authorizing an additional $46,900 for a construction work change directive budget for a total construction budget of $515,900 (Director of Budget & Project Management)


Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the award of the construction contract to Nash Construction for the Hometown Heroes Park Restrooms Project and authorize funds for a construction work change directive budget.

This project is to construct a 972 square foot freestanding restroom building at Hometown Heroes Park. The design is summarized as; a non-air-conditioned male and female restroom building with three (3) water closets for each (556 sq ft), field maintenance equipment storage (278 sq ft), equipment/plumbing area (138 sq ft), and exterior brick and design to match existing style and texture of Hometown Heroes Facility.

The City received five (5) sealed bids for the project on November 5, 2019 (Bid No. 19-CIP-043). Nash Construction submitted the bid that represents the best value for the City in the amount of $469,000 and for a construction time of 90 calendar days. Attached is the bid tabulation.

Staff requests the approval of the award of the construction contract and authorization of funds, as
follows:
1. Construction contract with Nash Construction in the amount of $469,000.
2. Construction work change directive budget in the amount of $46,900 (10% of construction amount) that will allow staff to approve minor field changes to expedite decisions and avoid possible construction delays and/or damage claims by the contractor.

This project is anticipated to be compete 90 calendar days from the notice to proceed.
