Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an expenditure of $169,355.25 to NetSync Network Solutions for replacement of storage hardware (Director of Information Technology)
Background:
Approval of this item will allow for the replacement of current storage hardware with a solution that will save money in the long run and improve speed on production 10x; hardware rack space will be reduced as new solution is a 5th of the current storage footprint which will cut down on power consumption along with A/C costs. This purchase will enable us to combat Ransomware at a security level with snapshots every few hours.
Current storage hardware will be reaching end of support in 2020 and maintenance now exceeds $38,000 with future renewals assumed to increase as age increases. New solution would allow us to remove Data Domain from our hardware infrastructure; maintenance costs for 3 years is $26,000. Total cost for maintenance renewals on current storage hardware and Data Domain for 3 years will exceed $140,000 given that costs do rise. New solution includes 3 years maintenance support which will eliminate these maintenance costs.
