Consider and take action on an ordinance appointing Dick Hoskins Gregg, III, as the associate judge of the Municipal Court of Record in the City of League City for a two-year term beginning February 1, 2020 and ending January 31, 2022, and authorizing an agreement with Dick Hoskins Gregg, III for various judicial services at a rate of $150 per hour (Assistant City Manager)

Background:
Approval of this agenda item will re-appoint Dick Hoskins Gregg, III ("Gregg") as associate judge for a two-year term ending on January 31, 2022 and authorize an agreement with Gregg for various judicial services at a rate of $150 per hour, with a compensation cap of $30,000 per year.
Under Section 30.00008 of the Texas Government Code, if a vacancy occurs in the Office of the Municipal Judge of a Court of Record, the governing body shall by ordinance or charter provide for the appointment of a qualified person to fill the office for the remainder of the unexpired term.
The City currently has two municipal court judge positions: a chief judge and an associate judge.
