Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an amendment with Sander Engineering Corporation for the Southeast Area Service Trunks Project (WT1105) in an amount of $45,041 (Director of Budget & Project Management)
Background:
This project generally consists of installing a 24-inch waterline down FM646 from Dickinson Avenue to South Shore Boulevard, as well as up Tuscan Lakes Boulevard to League City Parkway. To date, four of the five segments have been installed, however the final segment was designed in 2016 and needs to be updated prior to construction. This final segment will be installed from FM270 to South Shore Boulevard.
In the time since this project was designed, a new section of Tuscan Lakes was constructed which provided a portion of the remaining waterline along Tuscan Lakes Boulevard. The plans need to be updated to reflect this waterline to ensure our tie-in lines up, survey data needs to be updated due to easement purchases, resubmit plans to TxDOT, gas pipeline companies and TCEQ. This effort is expected to cost $34,040.60. In addition to this cost, a budget for resetting survey control points during construction is being included in the amount of $11,000. This will allow us to make any unforeseen adjustments to survey points as necessary during construction.
The original contract amount was $370,150.00 and the amendments are as follows:
1. $1,650 for pipeline location services (approved April 2015)
2. $29,308 for design modification, rerouting, due to new development (approved April 2016)
3. $2,500 for land acquisition related surveying updates (approved October 2018)
4. $3,500 for land acquisition related surveying updates (approved April 2019)
Amendments 1 through 4 total $36,958 and were approved by the City Manager. Amendment 5, while under $50,000, requires City Council approval as the amendments total $81,998.60 in whole.
